RUAN DRIVER RECEIVES MILLION MILE SAFETY AWARD
DES MOINES, Iowa – Ruan Transport Corporation recently honored Richard C. Offhaus III of Geneva, IL, who received the Ruan Million Mile Safety Award. This remarkable achievement recognizes his one million miles of accident-free driving for Ruan.
Tom Netcher, Offhaus’s terminal manager, selected him to receive this prestigious award. “Richard has conveyed his pride and professionalism as a truck driver. I thank him for his devotion and professionalism to the trucking industry and to Ruan. Richard’s record of driving in all kinds of traffic and weather proves that he is performing at a world class level.” Offhaus has twelve and a half years of dedicated service to Ruan.
Offhaus, who has also won annual safe driving awards, says he achieved his goal of a million miles of safe driving by paying constant attention to the small things, maintaining a safe stopping distance when traveling and setting a steady driving pace. In addition, he credits the opportunity to operate a new truck and is proud of Ruan for the emphasis they place on keeping equipment in good running condition. Offhaus also notes that he enjoys listening to classical music when navigating heavy traffic.
The best part of working for Ruan is the time he gets to spend at home with his family, explained Offhaus. He typically travels only two or three nights each week.
Offhaus was presented his plaque on April 12, 2008 at the terminal safety awards dinner.
