TIA Announces Board Of Directors Election Results

Bowie, MD – September 24, 2008 - The Tire Industry Association (TIA) today announced the winners of the recent Board of Directors elections. 

There were 12 seats open, including ten seats with three-year terms, one seat with a two-year term and one seat with a one-year term. Elected to serve three-year terms were: Ken Brown, Alan Brown Tire Center, Newport, OR Brett Matschke, Richlonn’s Tire & Service Centers, Greendale, WI Ron Martin, Martin Tire, El Paso, TX Dan Clark, Tire Warehouse, Lake Orion, MI Chip Huber, Q Fix Truck Service, Louisville, KY Jim Short, Radial Tire & Bandag, Jasper, AL Bruce Street, Hibdon Tire, Oklahoma City, OK Ed Chrisman, Silver Creek Tire, LLC (Big O Tire franchise), Reno, NV Bob Ross, Hercules Tire of Canada, Inc., Mississauga, ON Bob Hendry, 31 Incorporated, Newcomerstown, OH 

Additional members to the Board include Tom Wright of Wright Tire Service, Anoka, MN, who was placed into the two-year vacancy that was created by the election of Mike Berra, Jr. of Community Tire Retreading in Maryland Heights, MO to the position of Secretary. Freda Pratt-Boyer of Purcell Tire & Rubber Co. of Potosi, MO, was placed into the one-year vacancy that was created by the election of Tom Formanek of Stellar Industries in Garner, IA to the position of Treasurer. 

The new Board will take office on Monday, November 3, 2008 at TIA’s Annual Meeting at the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. Also, after the Tire Industry Association Executives (TIAE) meeting, which will also occur on November 3, Gordon Gough of the Ohio Council of Retail Merchants in Columbus, OH will take his position as a nonvoting member of the Board. TIA is an international association representing all segments of the tire industry, including those that manufacture, repair, recycle, sell, service or use new or retreaded tires, and also those suppliers or individuals who furnish equipment, material or services to the industry. 

The Tire Industry Association (TIA) has a history that spans more than 80 years and includes several name changes. Originally known as the National Tire Dealers & Retreaders Association (NTDRA), the organization gave birth over the years to the American Retreaders Association (ARA) and the Tire Association of North America (TANA). ARA changed its name to the International Tire & Rubber Association (ITRA) and merged with TANA in 2002 to form the current Tire Industry Association (TIA), which now represents every interest in the tire industry.
