Atlanta, GA - October 6, 2008 - Primagaz France, distributor of propane and butane, is in the process of implementing ORTEC’s comprehensive scheduling solution, to improve efficiency, profitability and the ability to quickly respond to changes in the highly competitive market. The solution integrates the forecasting of customers’ consumption levels with the optimization of Primagaz’ distribution processes.
Primagaz services over 40,000 customers. Its 120 vehicle fleet delivers six different types of products, including bottles of propane and butane in various sizes. Primagaz has chosen to work with ORTEC to manage the distribution of its packaged gas products more effectively. Another benefit will be the increase of profitability by delivering a larger volume of products, while at the same time reducing the number of deliveries and the mileage driven.
Implementation
Benefits for Primagaz by using ORTEC’s solution include:
- 10% reduction in the number of delivery routes and customer visits while maintaining the same volume of products delivered
- 15% reduction of work time
- 25% mileage reduction
In order to verify the application’s direct economic benefits and ensure that it operates effectively both from a technical and organizational perspective, Primagaz has decided to initially implement a pilot over the course of one month. Overall implementation is scheduled to take place before the end of 2008. Primagaz’ Logistics Director M. Unique Solution
ORTEC’s solution integrates the ORTEC Orion and ORTEC Shortrec software solutions. ORTEC Orion will help Primagaz predict its customers’ consumption levels and automatically generate orders based on customers’ stock levels. In addition, the software will help the company reduce delivery volume during a given period and/or in a particular geographic area. Based on this information and by taking into account factors such as the priority levels of the orders and the dates and times of receipt by customers, the Vehicle Routing and Dispatch solution ORTEC Shortrec will help optimize the company’s distribution operations.
