Mondovi, Wis. – Marten Transport, which has been certified by an independent transportation institute as a top paying carrier, is expanding its Fair Pay program to include all over-the-road and regional solo drivers.   

The Fair Pay program is a graduated pay scale based on length of haul rather than a flat per mile rate.  It also takes a driver’s prior tractor/trailer driving experience into account.  “We initially introduced the program to more fairly compensate our OTR drivers when pulling a shorter length of haul load,” says Tim Norlin, Marten’s Director of Recruiting. “We are now including our regional drivers in the Fair Pay program so that they also receive credit for prior experience.”   

Solo company drivers will be paid based on the Fair Pay sliding pay scale and will receive up to five years’ credit for prior experience.  The pay program also includes annual pay increases and a generous per diem program.  Solo drivers can earn up to $0.445 per mile on their base rate.   

“We’ve been very committed to keeping driver pay strong despite economic challenges,” says Norlin. “Marten has been focused on continuous improvements to meet the needs of our driving force and our customer base. This is another program we feel strongly is the right thing to do for our drivers.”
With its focus on pay, Marten was recently recognized by the National Transportation Institute (which provides accurate and authoritative mission critical benchmarks to truckload carriers) in its annual National Driver Wages Survey.   

The institute found Marten Transport, listed among Forbes “200 Best Small Companies in America,” as one of the nation’s best for total compensation packages.
